The short answer
Indiana residents can self-exclude from gambling through Voluntary Exclusion Program (VEP), run by Indiana Gaming Commission (IGC). Exclusion periods: 1 year, 5 years or lifetime. Excludes enrollees from the gaming areas of all Indiana casinos and racinos; the IGC runs a separate Internet Self-Restriction Program (ISRP) that blocks mobile/online sports wagering accounts with all licensed operators for 1 or 5 years.
How does Indiana's self-exclusion program work?
Voluntary Exclusion Program (VEP) is run by Indiana Gaming Commission (IGC). You enroll once and every operator it covers must refuse you for the term you chose.

How do I sign up for self-exclusion in Indiana?
Indiana's self-exclusion form is on the official Indiana Gaming Commission (IGC) page linked below — there is no fee and no third party needs to be involved.
- 1 Online via the Indiana Gaming Commission website (secure.in.gov enrollment portal with identity verification)
- 2 In person at any Indiana casino
- 3 In person at the IGC office in Indianapolis
- 4 Through a designated problem gambling treatment provider
Official page: www.in.gov/igc/voluntary-exclusion-program — enroll there directly, never through a third-party site.
How do I get off the Indiana self-exclusion list?
One-year and five-year enrollees are not removed automatically. You must submit a written removal request, and you stay on the list until the Indiana Gaming Commission accepts it.
- Can it be ended early?
- No. The term you pick is the term you serve.
- At the end of the term
- You stay on the list until you apply to come off. Reaching the end date on its own does nothing.
- 1 Wait until your one-year or five-year term has ended.
- 2 Submit a written removal request to the Indiana Gaming Commission.
- 3 Stay listed until the IGC accepts it - the acceptance ends the exclusion, not the calendar date.
Lifetime enrollment can never be revoked. The casino VEP and the online sports wagering ISRP are separate lists, so coming off one leaves you on the other.
Worth saying plainly: wanting off the list is not the same as being ready to gamble again, and the urge to check usually arrives long before the term does. What actually happens when people come off a self-exclusion list goes through that in full.
Can I use NVSEP in Indiana?
Partly. NVSEP — the National Voluntary Self-Exclusion Program — is a free service that fills in and files state self-exclusion forms for you, and it does file in Indiana. What it reaches here is fantasy sports and nothing else: not casinos, not sportsbooks, not the lottery. What NVSEP covers, state by state has the full roster.
What should I watch out for with Indiana self-exclusion?
1-year and 5-year enrollees are NOT automatically removed at term end; they must submit a written removal request and stay listed until the IGC accepts it. Lifetime enrollment can never be revoked. Casino VEP and the online sports wagering ISRP are separate sign-ups; enrolling in one does not enroll you in the other. Indiana helpline: 1-800-994-8448.
Is self-exclusion enough on its own in Indiana?
Indiana's program only binds operators licensed in the state — offshore sites and crypto casinos ignore it. The setup that holds is layered: self-exclusion, plus a ban inside each betting app you hold, plus a device-level gambling blocker plus a bank-level gambling block. Gambling across the Indiana line?
A state program only binds operators licensed in that state. If you drive to a casino or bet on an app registered next door, you need that state's ban too.
